9:30-10:00 am Students arrive at Pink Beds, bathrooms

10:00 am Welcome to the Cradle of Forestry in America in amphitheater

10:15-11:15 Rotation 1*

11:20-12:20 pm Rotation 2*

*Rotation A: Surveys out in the field and learning how to identify plants and animals, 1 hour; iNaturalist uploads to “Pink Beds BioBlitz” project

*Rotation B(1): rocks and minerals with Pisgah Forest Gem Mine, 20 minutes

*Rotation B(2): pollinators with Devin Gentry, 20 minutes

*Rotation B(3): Migration-Risky Business game, 20 minutes

12:30pm-1:00pm Students eat lunch and head back to school. Any schools who have time are invited to walk over to the Forest Discovery Center and do a self-guided walk one of the trails

6:00-6:30pm EVENT BEGINS with welcome and orientation to the bioblitz and how to use iNaturalist app. 

6:30pm-9:30 Concurrent Evening Walks:

*Mist netting and bat walk

*General evening walks for nocturnal life.

*Moths and nocturnal insects at Picnic Area (white sheet display)
